·         uncover assumptions
·         analyze concepts
·         distinguish from what we know to what we do not know
This method is systematic, disciplined, deep and it focuses on fundamental concept. Teacher uses this type of questioning mainly for two purposes:
·         To draw students towards what they do not know from what they know
·         To foster students’ ability to ask Socratic questions
With the help of Socratic Questioning method, ideas become more clear from the surface. Socratic Questioning is intimately connected with critical thinking. It seeks meaning and truth. In psychotherapy, logotherapy or cognitive therapy, Socratic Questioning is used to uncover the assumptions and evidence that support people’s thought from the surface in respect of problem. R.W.
